Songs From The Blue Side

Sad? Depressed? Feel like letting those blues out?

The following are songs best heard when you are at your lowest low, or when you feel like being cathartic.

However, a word of caution: not all songs are suitable for all occasions. One song may be suitable for a breakup, while it cant be suitable for other sad events.

Another thing: if you like to be cheered up, DO NOT play these.

Final thing: All songs are subject to different interpretations per person. So you may or may not agree with me.

Ready?…

1. Wrong (2009)

Artist: Depeche Mode

Album: Sounds of the Universe

Wrong (2009)

Just like what the title suggests, it’s about how wrong the persona (the one who sings) is. Meaning he’s always wrong, had done nothing right.

Or maybe, just playing around the word WRONG, being mentioned for more than 60 times.

Sample Lyrics:

I was on the wrong page of the wrong book
With the wrong rendition of the wrong look
With the wrong moon, every wrong night
With the wrong tune playing till it sounded right yeah

Music video in here.

2. On A Day Like Today (2004)

Artist: Keane

Album: Hopes and Fears

Keane - Hopes and Fears

Ah…love, for a timid guy, it hurts. Ever felt how hard to tell your loved one (romantic one) what you really feel, whether good or bad. And as the song progresses, the feeling becomes more and more intense.

Perfect for the heartbroken.

Sample Lyrics:

I saw you were sick and tired of my wrong turns
If you only knew the way I feel I’d really love to tell you
But I can never find the words to say
and I don’t know why

Performed live in here.

3. Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? (1999)

Artist: Moby

Album: Play

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?

This song, with minimal lyrics (three lines, mind you), makes you ask why does your heart feel bad. The music video, which is an animated one (featuring the guy on the cover), reminds you of the Little Prince.

Lyrics (repeated throughout the song):

Why does my heart feel so bad?

Why does my soul feel so bad?

These open doors…

Hear it here.

4. The Scientist (2002)

Artist: Coldplay

Album: A Rush of Blood to the Head

The Scientist by Coldplay

Most of us might find this one really familiar. We’ve heard this at least once in our lives. It (including the music video) has become a classic tune of weakness in the face of love.

Sample Lyrics (from the Coldplay site):

Nobody said it was easy

It’s such a shame for us to part

Nobody said it was easy

No one ever said it would be this hard

Listen to this song in here.

These will do for now. After all, even though they are (literally and figuratively) music to your ears, too much of these can give you a ticket for a trip to the psych ward.
